We know that augmented reality is still new for many people, so we’ve put together this FAQ to answer the most common questions about Reality Frames, how they work, and what you can expect when ordering from Nostalgia Tech. What is a Reality Frame?
A Reality Frame is a physical picture frame enhanced with augmented reality technology. At first glance, it looks like a traditional high-quality frame that you’d find on a wall or desk. The magic happens when you tap and scan it with your smartphone or tablet: the photo comes alive with sound and video. This transforms a still memory into a living one.
Do I need a special app to view my Reality Frame?
Nope! All you have to do is enable tap on your mobile device, touch it to your frame, and then point. This allows your guests to easily access your memories without forcing them to install an app they may only use once.
Can I change my photo or video after my frame has been created?
Yes, absolutely. We built flexibility into the system because we know memories evolve over time. To update your content:
Go to the Update Photo/Video section at the top of our website.
Choose if you'd like to update your photo, video, or both.
Enter your frame’s unique serial number (printed on the back of your frame)
Once submitted, the content will be updated in our system, and the next time someone scans your frame, they’ll see the new version. Updates usually process within 24–48 hours.
What if my frame arrives damaged?
We want every Reality Frame to arrive in perfect condition. If your frame shows up broken or defective, please contact us immediately with a photo of the damage. We’ll ship you a replacement at no extra cost.
We do not accept returns or exchanges for reasons outside of shipping damage. Each Reality Frame is custom-made, linked to your chosen photo or video, and cannot be resold. Please double-check your order before finalizing it.
How long does shipping take?
Processing and customization generally take 5–7 business days. Shipping times depend on your location:
U.S. orders: Typically 3–5 business days after processing.
International orders: Usually 7–14 business days depending on customs.
We’ll send you tracking information once your order ships so you can follow it every step of the way.
Can I order multiple frames at once?
Yes. Many customers order several frames for family members, weddings, or special events. You must add each from to the cart one at a time! Each frame has its own unique serial number and can feature different photos or videos. There’s no limit to how many frames you can purchase in a single order.
How long will my video/photo stay active?
Your uploaded content stays active for as long as Nostalgia Tech is in business. There will never be subscription fees or annual renewals. We want your Reality Frame to last for years to come. That said, we recommend keeping a backup copy of your video or image file just in case you want to update or replace it later.
What file types do you accept?
We currently accept:
Images: JPEG, PNG (under 15MB)
Videos: MP4, MOV (under 30MB, maximum 1 minutes long)
If your file doesn’t fit these requirements, our system may compress or reject it. For best results, upload high-resolution images and videos.
Do I need internet access to view my Reality Frame?
Yes, our tech is built off of the web, so for your device to access and view your video, you will need internet access.
Can I gift a Reality Frame?
Definitely. Reality Frames make powerful gifts for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, or memorials. You can even upload the content yourself before giving it, or allow the recipient to update it later with their own photo/video.
Do I need to charge the Reality Frame?
Unlike digital displays that require constant charging, Wi-Fi, or touch controls, a Reality Frame is timeless. It doesn’t need to be plugged in, and it looks just like a traditional photo frame until scanned. We designed it this way so that your memories blend seamlessly into your home without looking like a gadget.
